Here’s the thing I continue to learn about making and keeping a decision. We make a lot of conscious and sub conscious decisions every day. According to stats its about 35000 a day. Yes!!…astounding, and now we know why we’re so tired and stressed☺.
This article isn’t about the decision we make about what shoes goes with our outfit, though that’s so important too;). I’m talking about those big decisions that have long term impact on our lives.
Decisions holds us accountable – and many folks avoid making a decision because fear plays a big role as a road block. especially if we’ve make the decision before but failed to either get the results we hoped for, follow through on it, so we just avoid it altogether.
Question – what will your life look like a 1 year from now if you DON’T make a decision about the thing you need to?
Truth – When you make a decision to start or stop something you have a certain level of awareness and your heart sees the benefits of how you will benefit. However during that period our head gets in the way – meaning, all the second guessing, doubt and excuses begins to stir, and instead of shutting it off with the positive reason why, we dwell and feed the negative and before we know it, we’ve talked ourselves out of making the decision and remain in the same state of….Unhappiness, fear, frustration, worry, pain, anger?
Let’s flip the switch and start TALKING/BUYING into the benefits making and keeping decision will provide us.
Action piece 1 – Make that decision to start or stop that thing right now. Imagine what your life will look like, how you will feel if you do it.
Now imagine what your life will look like, how you will feel if you do nothing.
Go ahead I’ll wait! (This is your space to PAUSE and do this exercise) Assuming you care about your well-being, you’ve selected to go with taking action…let’s move on.
Action piece 2 – Do something TODAY towards the decision you just made/recommit to.
- Improving your personal relationship
- Stopping the abuse in your relationship
- Taking steps to go after that career change or promotion
- Improving your physical well being
- Increasing your financial health
Or whatever that thing is you need to stop or start.
Action piece 3 – Find a mantra, quote, or word to remind yourself WHY. Mine is “best me”.
Remember, you are not alone in this, there’s a mass of people out in this world right now who are in the same postion of making that one decision just like you that’s about to make their lives better, happier, healthier and free.How about it?
