I have bad days. I have days when I feel deflated and my energy is low, yes I have days like that, however when I have those days I no longer kick the shit out of myself – that is so easy to do and so destructive. I no longer reinforce thoughts and actions to fuel my low days. Why? Because I have learned that a shift in mindset and approach enables me to BOUNCE BACK quickly.
Take comfort in knowing that everyone experiences low days, yes everyone and highly successful people are part of that group. The next time you find yourself having an off day, here are are few things to consider to shift your mindset into a better state.
Take a breath PAUSE – it isn’t the end of the world, it’s a bad day bought on by something that triggered you, bruised your feelings, overworked, exhausted and stressed perhaps. Maybe your eating habits needs to be realigned, or exercise reintroduced back into your life.
Identify WHY – Knowing why is essential to knowing HOW To deal with it. So take time PAUSE is your space to figure it out. You probably won’t have to spend more than 5 minutes as it will come to you quickly, then
Recap your HIGHLIGHTS – this might take some churning, but it’s essential to do so as its your get out of jail card. Focus on your favourite mantra, quote, latest success story, most recent compliment a client or someone gave you. The point here is to shift your mindset to something that will OVERRIDE what’s causing your “bad day and ultimately remind you that being in this space isn’t a reflection of who you are, it’s just a feeling you’re working through.
This is your BOUNCE BACK MOMENT – picture yourself on a trampoline just standing there doing nothing. Now picture yourself bending your knees – taking action and getting into the rhythm of movement…something is happening. ..You’ve now made the decision to not just stand there and do nothing – why? Because doing nothing gets you nowhere.
Now BOUNCE, and before you know it you are elevating yourself off the mat into the air with a different focus and freedom, yes freedom from the affects of having a bad day have you.
Best you, best me.
